Spring has officially sprung &
my Spirit is lifted by the sunshine. My
week at school was rough, spring fever has hit and my littles {and their
teacher} just want to play in the sunshine.
Thankfully we had an incredible weekend of outings, sweet friends, good
food & sunshine.

Saturday morning we headed to the
Farmer’s Market to grab our vegetables for the week & continue to work on
Duke’s socialization skills. {Side bar:
we was a rock-star!} It was an
absolutely gorgeous morning and the time with Coach in such a laid back environment was exactly what my heart needed to relax after a difficult week
and an upcoming stressful one. Monday
and Tuesday every 4th & 5th grader in Texas will take
the first round of standardized state testing.
While I might be a kindergarten teacher we all come together to give our
kids the best shot at showing off how fabulous they are & so I have been
pulled to administer a test. Pray for
not only my nerves at proctoring but also that these precious students know
their worth is not determined based on a test!

I was able to meet my mom &
grandmother for a quick lunch and shopping trip Saturday as well! They were at the farm this weekend and came
to town for a few hours. It was an
unexpected treat to see them both.
The first annual Texas Food Truck
Showdown came to town this weekend & we indulged full force with a couple
that is quickly becoming people I can see walking through life with until the
Lord calls us home. Good gravy that
sounds so cheesy but it is so true. I
did not realize my heart was longing for “couple friends” until we met Rebecca
& Justin but they have filled that void.
Becca is one of the most encouraging, Christ-loving ladies I know and I
am so grateful for her friendship. I’ll
be reflecting on our friendship in a full post coming soon! It seemed like the entire town was there to
sample food from across Texas. Coach
went for Greek food while the rest of us decided to indulge in Mae Mae’s BBQ
truck. We found out that they are about
to become a permanent fixture here & I am so excited! Seriously delicious pork sliders. Dixie & Duke accompanied us to the Square
and had a blast with all the smells, people and pets from passer-bys. At one point Dixie cleaned a toddlers face
for him. Both baby and dog were huge
fans of the experience.

Today I am relishing in another day
of beautiful Texas weather, church fellowship and time to be still before the
Lord. This morning in Sunday School our
teacher quoted a famous California pastor, “It’s Friday, but Sunday is
coming!” What a precious mantra to
mediate on this week. For without Good
Friday and the Crucifixion, Easter Sunday means nothing. We studied the medical report released by
doctors on exactly how death on a cross would effect the body. My heart is heavy with the thought of what my
Savior endured because of my sin. Yet He
did it with dignity and with the intent to feel every lash, painful breath and
moment of pain. My prayer this week is
that I continue to feel the weight of His ultimate price, so that on this
Easter Sunday I can truly rejoice in His Resurrection and the knowledge that He
is coming once again in all His Glory.
